Ingredients
Scale
- 1 large round bread loaf
- 1 cup sour cream
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 cups shredded rotisserie chicken
- 1/2 cup diced green onions
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika, optional
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, optional garnish
Instructions
- Slice off the top quarter of the round bread loaf using a serrated knife.
- Hollow out the interior of the loaf carefully, leaving a 1/4-inch shell on the bottom and sides.
- Tear the removed bread into bite-sized pieces and set aside for serving.
- Brush the interior walls and top edge of the hollowed loaf with melted butter mixed with garlic powder and salt.
- Place the bread boat on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F.
- Combine the softened cream cheese and sour cream in a large mixing bowl.
- Stir until completely smooth.
- Add 1 1/2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese.
- Fold gently until evenly incorporated.
- Season with garlic powder, salt, black pepper, and paprika if using.
- Spread half of the cream cheese mixture into the prepared bread boat.
- Layer the shredded rotisserie chicken over the cream cheese base.
- Top the chicken with half of the diced green onions.
- Add the remaining cream cheese mixture as the final layer.
- Smooth the top evenly.
- Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup of cheddar cheese over the top.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until the cheese melts and turns golden brown.
- Remove from the oven when the bread edges are crispy and the filling bubbles at the sides.
- Let the dip cool for 3-5 minutes before serving.
- Sprinkle with the remaining green onions and fresh parsley if desired.
- Place the bread boat on a serving platter.
- Arrange the reserved bread pieces around the base.
- Serve immediately while warm and creamy.
Notes
Use a sturdy sourdough, Italian, or ciabatta loaf so the bread boat holds its shape. Pat the shredded chicken dry before layering to prevent a watery filling. Let the dip cool briefly after baking so the filling sets slightly before serving.
